ECO-PRINTING PLAY MASTERCLASS
In Person course - Deemouth Artist Studios Project Space, Torry, Aberdeen. Saturday 21st June and Saturday 28th June.
10:00 – 13:00 both days.
Maximum Class Size: 3
Level: Beginner/Intermediate.
In this workshop join me, where over the course of two days (consecutive weeks) you will be immersed in the magic of eco printing.
In this hands-on workshop, you will learn the steps required to source & extract colour naturally through the eco-print technique & apply these to textiles. While our bundles steam away we’ll also explore some simple hand stitches that we can later use to embellish our eco-printed textiles.
On the second week we will unwrap our bundles and look at ways we can creatively use our outcomes.
You will leave with a number of experimental eco-print samples.
Together we will cover the techniques of the eco-print process & look at:
- How to prepare fibre for natural eco-printing (and natural dying)
- How to make colour bind & fix to your fabric
- How to source plants & experiment with sources to use for successful prints
- Creating our eco-print bundles
- Unravalling and discussing our bundle results
- Using our eco-prints for additional creative projects
Materials to bring with you: For this course all materials will be provided.
Light refreshments will be provided. The day will include a lunch break but please bring your own lunch.
What others have said about Fiona’s courses:
“I was delighted with the content and pace of this course. Excellent, clear tuition and very interesting examples of others' work to inspire and enthuse us. As a beginner, I really didn't expect to come away with a completed piece - and I did! I was astonished by what I achieved. Brilliant, friendly and fun! Thank you so much, Fiona.”
“A thoroughly enjoyable and educational couple of days in Camban Studio. Fiona is very inspirational , engaging and encouraging as a teacher. Really enjoyed doing the workshop in her studio which provided lots of visual stimulus. She created a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere while encouraging us to cover a lot of techniques and absorb lots of information. Just working out what to do with my samples! Thank you again for a fabulous couple of days!"
“I loved how Fiona took us from a basic place but pointed us towards wonderful artistry. It was very empowering and inspiring!”
